Creating Balance at Work – Managing Stress
As the pace of change in the workplace continues to increase;
we continue to try and balance our careers, families and personal
lives. Some people feel under immense pressure while they ‘spin
the plates’ and keep each part of their lives running.
According to a 2005 Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Survey in
the UK, a total of 12.8million working days were lost due to stress,
depression and anxiety in 2004/5; which cost businesses around £3.7
billion a year.
When staff manage the demands on themselves better, they operate
at peak performance and contribute massively to business results. When
they do not, the effects can be disastrous, leading to disruption,
ineffective working, absenteeism and potentially long term sickness. To
have a truly effective team, it’s vital that staff know how
to create and maintain this delicate balance, and that the organisation
provides ongoing support in this area.

other individuals who have to deal with stressful situations. Tailored
training courses can be designed to meet specific requirements – for
example for specific situations and demands in the workplace. One-to-one
coaching is also available to assist with specific situations,
or to help in restoring balance in a particular scenario.
